Work Period: May 28 & 29, 2015
Hours Worked: 10:20 @$3.50/hour
Money Paid to Me (Virtual Assistant): $32.55*
(*Exclusive of $3.62 charged by oDesk)
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Content 2.0 Administration:

  • Also added both blog posts to the commenting Google Spreadsheet.
  • In reply to your question why I sent this for proofreading, actually this document was placed in the Jomvie's proofread files and that's why I sent this for proofreading.

Submitted all transcribed and proofread comments under the following blog/forum posts:
    • Do you outsource your content to someone else?
    •  A threat about outsourcing and cost discussion.
    • 7 Things to Consider Before Hiring a Virtual Assistant
    • Good News for NON-U.S. Kindle Publishers (SBI! Forum Post)
    • Also updated Google linkbuilding spreadsheet accordingly.
C2 Merged Stories:
  • Merged multiple stories into single content 2.0 pages
    • Hen House Scary Stories
    • Sleepover Games for Slumber Parties
    • Spooky Sleepover Stories for Group Sleepovers and Camping Activities
    • Scary Bloody Mary Stories
    • Embarrassing Drinking Stories: When Dare Moments Go Wrong
    • College Time Drinking Stories You Can't Easily Forget
    • Stories of Drinking Dares with Girls
    • Drinking Dare Games and Stories
Other Administrative Support:
  • Sent all files that you have recently recorded to Abi for transcription and also emailed her about this.

  • Watched the long skype conversation video (not finished yet) and implemented all discussed tasks that were pending on my end.
  • Reviewed as discussed in the Skype call. I think we can think about partnering this site since it's pretty well monetized and offering many services. However, the site has not ranked well on Google and Alexa. Also they do not offer an affiliate program.
  • Revised SBI! Action Guide day 8 & 9.

(*Exclusive of $3.97 charged by oDesk)
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Christian Business Ethics Page Update:

  • Revised action guide day 7
  • Watched some of the work updated feedback videos, made all said changes and published all reviewed updates.

  • Abi has submitted all her pending transcription files (except one Dropbox YouTube video file).

Work Update - Content 2.0 Administrative Support

Work Period: May 21 & 22, 2015
Hours Worked: 10:20 @$3.50/hour
Money Paid to Me (Virtual Assistant): $32.55*
(*Exclusive of $3.62 charged by oDesk)
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Content 2.0 Administrative Support:
  • Posted the proofread story "Farming Nude for a Day". Since it has less than 300 word, so I merged this into Public Naked Dare Stories.

YouTube Channel Administrative Support:
  • Made all advised changes to the Dropbox YouTube Video and published the video as public. Please have a review and let me know if you need any further changes.

  • On the oDesk Team Application page, wrapped the video into a call-out box and also removed Title and links from the video.
  • However, when I reviewed the page on my mobile phone, the video was not responsive. In this regard, I searched SBI! forums to find a suitable solution. Found and implemented the solution and now the video is response.
  • Basically, I have added a custom CSS code to the design (using Side-Designer), then wrapped the YouTube embedded code into another code. I have saved this code to the Dropbox
  • Will have to implement this code wherever we have embedded a YouTube video. I will do this when I will recheck and fix all Ideal-Helper page.

Web Content Administration Support:
  • Also illustrated the page with images and call-out boxes.
  • Please take care of the top call-out box and put the introduction text there. Also review the Analyze It report for this page.
  • Built the page as nofollow and noindex, and did not distribute it via RSS.
  • I will forward the page information text for proofreading.
  • Tables are little difficult to handle now, especially in the mobile view. The comparison chart was totally broken when I reviewed it on my mobile. Then I moved the existing table to show only on desktop / tablet devices and created another table to show only for mobile devices.
  • Another lesson learned is that reminder boxes are not effective at all on the mobile site view, so its better to use call-out boxes (with responsive grids) instead of reminder boxes.

Other Administrative Support:
  • Latest post widget was sort of broken, so I have also fixed it now.
  • Finished the Google Analytics Fundamental course, but the last unit was little difficult to understand. I will have to go through the unit 6 one more time.

  • Also thanks for recording so many new high priority videos, I have watched some of them, but didn't implement them yet.
  • Low priority task - Revised SBI! action guide day 5 & 6.

Proofreading Project Update:
  • The newly hired provider has submitted the 2nd batch of proofreading as well. Please have a review of the related folder where I have saved all files.
  • I also need some detailed feedback regarding this project. For example, I would like to know if you have reviewed her work thoroughly? Do you find her work good? Do I need to hire another person in order to split test two candidates?
  • Also I prefer that instead of multiple small batches of files, we send her one large batch for the whole week. But for that I need to know that how much you want to invest into this project each week?
  • Also I need more input from you about what files need to be proofread in which order. So far I have forwarded her all files from the Future Blog posts folder. Then I have also forwarded some of the Jomvie's written blog posts. Then there are Diet blog posts.
  • Beside that, also please share your thoughts over the implementation of the proofread work. In Jomvie's case, we didn't implement his proofread file at all. Perhaps, the quality of his work was not up to the standards and therefore you didn't asked me to implement his work.

Work Update - Hiring a new virtual assistant

Work Period: May 14 & 15, 2015
Hours Worked: 10:10 @$3.50/hour
Money Paid to Me (Virtual Assistant): $32.03*
(*Exclusive of $3.56 charged by oDesk)
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Hiring a New Virtual Assistant for Content Proofreading
  • Screened all applicants who have applied for our job post, and shortlisted two of them.
  • Also sent a message to one of them.
  • I was reviewing Fivver and found out that Fiver could also be a good place for outsourcing proofreading jobs, and we can also find people who are native English speakers and offering up to 5000 words per $5.
  • I have hired a Freelancer from USA who offered $3 for 1500 words.
  • Then opened a $5 fixed price project, prepared initial instructions and also prepared the files for the first batch of 2500 words.

YouTube Administrative Support
  • Regarding Dropbox video, the subtitles which you were reviewing are automatic (self generated by YouTube). However, I have unpublished automatic subtitles now.
  • Reworked the video, reduced the length of the first slide, re-uploaded the video to YouTube. Please have a review of it and let me know if you need any further assistance.

Content 2.0 Administrative Support
Other Administrative Support
  • Some images and call-out boxes were broken after the design change on the Totally Free Stock Photos pages, so I have fixed the page.
  • Revised SBI's Action Guide day 3
  • Thanks for providing feedback on some of the pending work updates, I have published all reviewed work updates after making necessary changes.
  •  Regarding Adsense issue (where a specific ad unit was placed on different content pages, but not found in your Adsense account), I already have taken care of this issue many days ago by creating a new ad unit and replacing it with the old ad unit.
  • Conducted Google Analytics Fundamentals course day 5.

Work Update - Proofreading Project Updates

Work Period: May 18, 2015
Hours Worked: 5:20 @$3.50/hour
Money Paid to Me (Virtual Assistant): $16.80*
(*Exclusive of $1.87 charged by oDesk)
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Proofreading Project Updates
  • Reviewed the proofread files submitted by the newly hired provider.
  • Released her the milestone payment for this proofreading batch.
  • Prepared the next batch of files and sent to her for proofreading.
  • Also created a new folder within the high priority folder and save all submitted files into this folder. Also created a tracking sheet so that you know which files have been forwarded to her for proofreading, how much words each file has and how much payment is made against each batch. Please have a review of All Batches Details.xlsx

Mobizen Feedback
  • I found it really good and so far, have no problem with any of the videos. The quality of both audio and video is good. However, I understand that it will be a little difficult to operate for you in some cases.
  • Regarding the white space that you find at the top of every work update, unfortunately, it cannot be eliminated from the mobile view. These are the line breaks that need to be created in order to start the content under the summary box.
  • However, when you review one of the work updates, please always show me the post title because in some cases its a little difficult for me to determine the exact work update you are reviewing.
  • In comparison to computer desktop screen recording videos, obviously I found them more easy to understand and especially where you can easily jump to a relevant folder to give me specific feedback regarding any specific file.

SBI! Support Reply Feedback
  • Thanks for providing feedback for SBI! supports reply, I think their reply is not based on a misjudgement. I think we both forgot before contacting to the support team that we don't have any BB1 pages on the PPG site. All pages that are not converted to BB2, are uploaded pages, not BB1. They have also provided some material on Mobilize It for UYOHers. I will check these instructions out and will try to implement these on the PPG site.

Other Administrative Support
  • Watched work update feedback videos and published all reviewed work updates after making the necessary changes.
  • Revised SBI! Action Guide day 4.

Work Update - Website Traffic Stats Analysis and Design Feedback

Work Period: May 12 & 13, 2015
Hours Worked: 11:10 @$3.50/hour
Money Paid to Me (Virtual Assistant): $32.03*
(*Exclusive of $3.56 charged by oDesk)
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Party Games Traffic Stats Analysis and Design Feedback:
    • About another high priority video where you asked me to investigate about the CSS page which is one of the high traffic page this month. I have doubled checked it from the Google analytics, but couldn't find this CSS file within the traffic stats.
    • I have also investigated the SBI! traffic stats for the last couple for months, but there is no record of this file in the previous month. I have implemented the design change on the party games site on February 10, 2015.
    • Regarding your question about reverting party games site design back to SBI! design template, I think that the design provided by AJ is good and it has some additional features that Ideal-Helper design doesn't have. If we want to change the column layout to single column, that is also possible within the same template, but two column layout is still good in my opinion.
    • As you have asked me in one of the work update videos to compare and populate the data before and after the Adsense split-tests, I have extracted the required information for three pages and put into a spreadsheet. Please have a review of Adsense Analysis.xlsx.
    Upcoming Proofreading project
    • Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the 'to be hired proofreader'. To get a rough idea about the price of this project, I did some research over Upwork as well as outside Upwork. Its tough to get an estimate for hourly jobs because native English candidates are asking over $15/hour where as non-natives are asking for $5-$10 per hour. so In my opinion we cannot estimate the actual price by using hourly rates. Obviously, we don't know how much words they will proofread in one hour.
    • Then I researched some projects posted by other clients and looked for what fixed-price they are offering for a specific amount of words. I extracted some data out of such job posts and then obtained an average price for this kind of jobs, which is around 280 words per dollar.
    • I think we can offer a price of $1 per 300 words. Also in my opinion, one can easily proofread 3 different articles (300 words each) in an hour so this will make their hourly rate $3/hour.
    • Another possibility is to post a fixed-price job without offering any rate and ask the freelancers to quote their best rate per $1 for example.
    • Thank you so much for providing quick feedback on this, I have created and posted a job opening.

    Other Administrative Support:
    • Some call-out boxes on the party games site homepage were broken, so I have fixed them all.
    • To summarize this report, in general we have improved the click through rate effectively, but you can also see that cost per click has turned very low now.
    • If you review the overall site data, you can see that in January 2014, the Adsense revenue is $126.80 with 361 clicks. Whereas in the same month this year we have received 528 clicks, but the total Adsense revenue for this month is only $75.75. This shows that the CPC has decreased up to 60% from last year.
    • Watched some of the work update feedback videos, made necessary changes and then published them.
    • Updated Dropbox YouTube video with annotations, links and other improvements. Please have a review and let me know if you need any further changes.

Update: Thank you so much for the feedback on the video, based on your feedback I have shortened the duration of the introduction. Please have a review of it.
    •  About adding an audio at the end of the video, the audio we have used in the intro has been purchased by you, so we have the copyrights of the audio. Whereas if I research another royalty free audio, we will have to put the credit note at the end of the video.
    • Also spend two hours daily on the revision of SBI! Action Guide.

Work Update - YouTube Administrative Support

    Work Period: May 11, 2015
    Hours Worked: 6:50 @$3.50/hour
Money Paid to Me (Virtual Assistant): $21.53*
                              (*Exclusive of $2.39charged by oDesk)
    Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Best Time Tracking Software Video Update
    • Fixed the typo error from the time-tracking software review video.
    • Also watched some other YouTube videos on how to improve your YouTube videos.
    • Then at the end of the video added another slide with different call to action boxes and annotation links.

    • Also added other annotation links, subtitles and call-out boxes to the video.
    • Please have a review and let me know if you need any further assistance.

7 Reasons to Use the Dropbox Video
    • Thanks for your feedback and also for providing missing audio files for this project, I have edited out the required part from the audio file and added into the video.
    • Also made other changes and fine-tuned the video by making some more changes.
    • Note that I still have to add annotation to this video.

    SBI! Action Guide Revision
    • Also reviewed action guide day-2, but could not finish it today. Day-2 is about keyword research, so I am taking a bit more time on it because a lot of new features has been updated to the action guide content since I have reviewed it first.

Work Update - Virtual Administrative Support

    Work Period: May 07 & 08, 2015
    Hours Worked: 11:10 @$3.50/hour
Money Paid to Me (Virtual Assistant): $35.18*
(*Exclusive of $3.91 charged by oDesk)
    Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

    Party Games Website Update
    • Received another story, but it required a lot of proofreading. I have proofread it a bit, but still requires more proofreading, please have a review of Story Needs proofreading.docx in the High Priority folder.

    YouTube Video Update:
    • Thanks for pointing out the typo error in the video introduction, I have rectified the error and then re-uploaded the video to YouTube.
    • Uploaded the transcript file (subtitles) to the video.

    • Also added different pages and products links with the help of annotations.
    • Update: Thanks for providing more feedback and sorry for repetitive typo errors. Camtasia text interface is a little difficult to handle and therefore I couldn't review it properly. Also one must save changes before publishing the video, otherwise changes will not be implemented on the final video. I acknowledge your latest feedback about this and will implement the suggestions in the coming week.
    • Reminder: Dropbox slideshow video is also 95% ready, I have made final changes to it, but I think there should be some introductory voice-over at the start of the slideshow.
    Other Administrative Support:
    • Listened to the audio, which you have recorded recently. In reply to your question about hiring a new resource for proofreading of the content, I would still suggest to hire someone from the oDesk. I think we can hire someone on a fixed-price project. We can ask their price per page or price per 300 words for example. My suggested plan is to split-test two freelancers by giving them same content and then decide who is better.

    Google Analytics Fundamentals Course
    • Conducted the unit 3 and 4 of the Google Analytics Fundamentals Course

Work Update - Ideal-Helper Design Update

    Work Period: May 05 & 06, 2015
    Hours Worked: 10:30 @$3.50/hour
Money Paid to Me (Virtual Assistant): $33.08*
(*Exclusive of $3.68 charged by oDesk)
    Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

    Ideal-Helper Design Update:
    • About the site search widget which was not available on mobile portrait view, I have now added it with another container box (visible only to mobile devices). Now the search widget is visible on the mobile phone portrait view.

    • Replaced the old image from the "About Me" page.

    Party Games Site Update:
    • Thank you so much for proofreading the story, I have submitted and published it after making the necessary formatting. Please have a review of "How My First Nude Dare Made Me A Centerfold"
    • Also submitted your comment under the post
    • Then submitted the other comment along with the link to her previous story "I walked naked to the courthouse"

    YouTube Channel Update:
    • Also uploaded the time tracking video to Ideal-helper channel after making the necessary changes.
    • Added the transcript to the video
    • Added and verified ideal-helper as an associated website to the YouTube channel, now we can add ideal-helper links (and tracker links) into our videos.
    • I have built tracker links for TimeDoctor and Hubstaff and added these links into the video using annotation bars.

    Other Administrative Support:
    • As a low priority task, I have started reading the 10-day action guide material. Today I covered the introduction 'The 10-day big picture' and 'Day-1 - Master the all important basics'
    • Listened to another low priority audio about Adult Truth or Dare stories eBook, I have extracted all notes from the audio and put into the Adult Truth or Dare EBook Blueprint.docx, which you will find within the High Priority folder.
    • Note: Added 3 hours of manual time. oDesk was down for maintenance and I couldn't uploaded the cache data. By the way, oDesk is now UpWork.
    • Added another 1/2 hour of manual time because new Upwork time-tracking did not upload  time properly, I have removed and re-installed the old oDesk team room for now which is working fine at the moment.

Work Update - Website Administrative Support

    Work Period: May 04, 2015
    Hours Worked: 6:20 @$3.50/hour
Money Paid to Me (Virtual Assistant): $19.95*
(*Exclusive of $2.22 charged by oDesk)
    Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

      YouTube Video Project Update:
    • I have reworked and created another version of the video with better quality images of the new Ideal-Helper layout. I have saved both videos within the same folder, so please have a review and let me know your feedback about it.

    Financials of PPG site.
    • I have updated the PPG financials spreadsheet with the Adsense income for the month of April 2015, please also update with the subscription purchase amount because it has not been updated since March 2015.

    Party Games Site Update:
    • Received another story from Susan (A regular visitor and guest writer), but the story needs to be proofread before publishing. I have proofread it a bit, but still want you to have a review of it.

    Adsense Split Test Update:
    • Following Google Analytics experiments have been ended, so I have implemented the winner as always and created new split tests.
      • Kitchen page on PPG site
      • Red-Hat page on PPG site
      • House page on PPG site
      • Flea page on PPG site
      • Spin the bottle page on the party games site.

    Ideal-Helper Site Update:
    • Thank you so much for sending me the FAQs links about the new responsive design themes. I have quickly reviewed these FAQs and it will be very useful in the future.

So far, I only have found one bug in our theme design, which I already have mentioned in another work update. The issue is about the headlines that are not being wrapped whenever an image or Google ad unit is placed above them and aligned left or right as shown and explained in the image below.
    • At the moment, I have managed to manually fix the issue by putting the content and images into parallel grid blocks. However, there would be a lot more occurrences especially on the content 2.0 pages that we should take care of.
