Jomvie's Daily Work Update - SOTAM Infographic

Work Period: Sep 30, 2014
Hours Worked: 8:00 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $20.00*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Ideal-Helper Commenting
  • The essence of my regular daily task. This is the best and fun task as it does not require too much effort from my braincell and only a true and honest comment :D

Audio Patch Review
  • Reviewed and edited audio patch for the slideshow.

  • Piktochart is not working again...although the pictures are there, but the tool pane won’t show up. I think they should really fix that bug. I already contacted them a couple of times, but they seem not to care at all.
  • I like Piktochart’s feature among any other webpage with the same niche. But the bug just kept bugging me everytime--for more than two months now.
  • At past 9 in the evening, I just got in to Piktochart and finish my backlog for a couple of months now (wow, that long).

Power Inverter post

  • This post will not only talk about an alternative/backup plan of some sort. This post will also point out that being an online worker, especially if you are hired on a full time basis, there’s no excuses for you or for me to not work (OUCH!) or delay our projects IF there’s a possible backup plan. Just like the urban saying goes, if there’s a “wheel” there’s a way.

Note: it’s still on the power inverter not yet pitching on VA

Work Update - eBook Creation and Other Administrative Support

Work Period: Sep 29, 2014
Hours Worked: 5:30 @$2.22/hour
Money Paid to Me (Virtual Assistant): $11.00*
(*Exclusive of $1.21 charged by oDesk)
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

eBook Cover-page Creation:

  • Created an eBook cover-page for Impressum research.

Skype Conversation with Full-time VA from the Philippines:
  • Skyped with Jomvie and discussed the following with him.
    •  Checked his audacity audio editing work and guided him for some more edits in order to improve the finished audio
    • Discussed PowerPoint slideshow animation effects with him, so that he can work on the rest of the slides
    • Discussed the topic 'Power inverter' and 'electricity backup plans' with him with some working solutions that I use.
SiteSell Forum Transcription:
  • Abi has transcribed two SiteSell forum transcriptions. Although I have proofread both of them, but since they are very long and especially they need to be submitted to SiteSell forum, please have a review of both of them and let me know if they are okay to be submitted.
  • Note by Francis: I proofread the post.

More Transcription Support:
  • There is another transcript (Being Offline Makes You Productive.docx) within the High Priority/Transcription folder that also needs to be proofread.
  • Also in the above mentioned and in another past post you asked me to link to a page where you discussed the internet blocking tool 'Freedom', I have tried to search a lot, but I couldn't find any such page or blog post where you have discussed 'Freedom'

Other Administrative Support:
  • Although I have received a notification that you submitted a comment under the blog post Generators: An Alternative for Filipino Virtual Assistants, (I can also see it within the site-central) but still after two days passed since you submitted the comment, the comment is still not live. Please check it, whether the bug is only at my end or you are also having the same issue.
  • Distributed more party games website pages via RSS feed.

Jomvie's Daily Work Update - Research/Collating Data for future posts

Work Period: Sep 29, 2014
Hours Worked: 8:10 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $20.42*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Updating Infographic--SOTAM
  • I am trying to finish my backlog especially this infographic about SOTAM, but the only problem is that the Piktochart’s website (the web which I create infographics) is not working again.

Ideal-Helper Comments
  • I was looking for links to comment on but I found myself removing links that does not need my ideas.

Power Inverter: formulating questions
  • I took the internet for some power inverters post. Since this is the first time that i’ve heard of it, I am clueless on what and how-to’s with this machine. But, one thing is for sure, it’s a lot better than generators.
  • And since research is still not enough, taking insights from the one who experienced it first hand is the best option. But, there’s more than asking about power inverters~~tips!
  • I just knew that Francis’ Main Virtual Assistant is facing the same problem as mine, which is power outage. Since, I was just recently working regularly online, I don’t know much about any backup plans and solutions (though I have a few in mind, but it does not work most of the time).

German and Filipino business ethics
  • Taking some points for the article “Filipino Business Ethics” from my boss’ original post that talks about “German Business Ethics
  • In my opinion, work ethics solely depends to an individual’s attitude. But, let’s see what will be the quantity with this article :D

Additional Note/s
  • I am experiencing an intermittent connection, but will do my best to complete my shift.

Work Update - Content 2.0 Administration Support

Work Period: Sep 25 & 26, 2014
Hours Worked: 10:40 @$2.22/hour
Money Paid to Me (Virtual Assistant): $21.33*
(*Exclusive of $2.35 charged by oDesk)
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

  • Also inserted all proposed links and a top C2 image
Skype Session with Full-time Virtual Assistant from the Philippines:
  • I've had a long Skype session with Jomvie, explained him step-by-step how to:
    • Save/convert audio files as MP3 with Audactiy software
    • How to create animated slides with Powerpoint
    • How to add/create animated effects
    • How to change animation timings
    • etc, etc

Form Build It! (FBI!) Implementation on Both Sites:
  • Listened to both long audios regarding FBI! implementation on both websites. I have to say that the topic is too vast and little difficult to understand. I have listened to them twice, but still I am unable to understand it 100%. However, I have taken notes out of it and have started working on that. Perhaps if we execute it step by step, it would be easy for me to understand each and every thing completely. I have moved both audios and notes to FBI on IH-DUYP in the High Priority folder.
  • I have also created an spreadsheet for the implementation of this task, please see Dropbox\FAISAL SBI Project\Instructions\high priority\FBI on IH-DUYP\FBI on IH-DUYP Implementation.xlsx. Please have a review of it and provide your feedback about this.
Other Administrative Support:
  • Distributed more party games website page via RSS feed.
  • Sent all audio files that you have recorded to Abi for transcription.

Jomvie's Daily Work Update - Clearing out Dropbox-Inbox

Work Period: Sep 26, 2014
Hours Worked: 4:00 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $10.00*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

  • Listening to audios before being disposed
  • Reply to a comment

Editing audio
  • Edited audio for voice patch for “Project Dropbox: Video” It was cut in three parts to  make the video more alive, interactive and informative.
  • The first audio patch is a failure since I wasn’t able to download the software LAME which converts the audio into an mp3 which can be played in all kinds of player.

Additional Note/s

Internet Downtime
  • Internet Downtime started at 4:30 in the afternoon until 11:30 in the evening. I called my internet providers’ customer service support to enlighten me about the long period of hours of internet downtime.
  • As per instruction to refresh the router--I told them I already did that a couple of times and yet the red light is still there for 3 hours.
  • Later they concluded that it must have been the volcanic activity around Luzon that caused this internet downtime since their cables are underground.
  • I spent nearly 200 pesos of load to call their customer service and yet they can’t resolve the problem.
  • Actually, this is the most common rants for their poor service. Whenever there’s rain or bad weather of some sort, their internet connection will pop out just like a bubble.
  • I am still working on changing my provider, but there’s still a lot of paperwork to do.
  • This is the link about the volcanic activity recently that caused internet downtime, as per my internet provider’s cause of delay and poor service:

Jomvie's Daily Work Update - Audio editing with the use of Audacity

Work Period: Sep 25, 2014
Hours Worked: 9:45 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $24.38*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Audio editing with the use of Audacity
  • Okay, I started with a sweaty and cold hands.. But, I think we all go through that phase whenever we start something very new and unknown to us. As I was getting along with the editing, I enjoyed myself doing it and wanting to edit some more. I was like, “that’s it?”
  • I thought it’s “that it”, but then it won’t play because it has to be converted/saved as mp3--I’m still learning
  • I am at the point of enjoying this task, but it was all in vain because I lack the software to convert the finished project into mp3. So, here is Francis’ Main VA to the rescue :D good thing he comes too handy to have it solved in less than a minute. so cool.. (thanks a lot btw)

Ideal-Helper Comment/Reply to Comment
  • Replied to a comment while skimming down the other list of links. This is far by the most enjoyable and comfortable task which only require a not so big percent of the brain :D it’s just like commenting to a facebook status.

Technical Training

  • Another day for training with Francis’ Main VA regarding in creating a video. This project has been sleeping for a while, so now it needs more attention so it would be launched on the site soonest--hopefully.

Additional Note/s
  • Sorry for the inconvenience, but the internet is slow today.

Work Update - Feedback about Diet Blog and Other Administrative Support

Work Period: Sep 23 & 24, 2014
Hours Worked: 10:30 @$2.22/hour
Money Paid to Me (Virtual Assistant): $21.00*
(*Exclusive of $2.31 charged by oDesk)
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Feedback About Diet Blog:

  •  Listened to the audio where you asked my feedback regarding the diet blog post. Yesterday when I was proofreading most of the transcribed blog posts, and in one of them you discussed a word "Virtual Assistant", and my initial feedback was that you are forcefully adding the word "virtual assistant" into this blog post, it has nothing to do with this topic.
  • So I completely support your opinion and your plan, I reckon we should create a mini WordPress site for that, but I don't suggest to use a self hosted WordPress domain name because usually such domain names doesn't have much trust with the visitors and I guess that domain name registration and hosting is also not very expensive. Also from the learning point of view, this would be interesting to know how this system works (we can also document the entire procedure and use it on Ideal-Helper under start an online business section)

HTML Photo Slideshow Page Update:
    • Formatted the FBI! form you added at the bottom of this page
    • Fixed the Thank you page HTML text.
    • Replaced normal navigation with Breadcrumb navigation.

Party Games Website Update:
  • A regular visitor "KingofDares"  who has submitted a story (Truth or Dare to the Max - Part -1) has submitted the 2nd sequel, which I published after little formatting and cleaning it up.
  • Since both submissions have less than 300 words, therefore I have merged both submissions into a single page.
  • Received some content 2.0 submissions on party games website, formatted and approved the following stories:
    • Strip Dare
    • Naked Husband
  • Both stories had less than 300 words therefore merged into another page Collection of Stripping Truth or Dare Stories
  • Didn't distribute either of them via RSS feed
  • Removed the Test Auto-responder from party games website Form Build It Library.
  • Retrieved number of response data for each of the FBI! form, please review DUYP_FORM_RESPONSES.xlsx in the High Priority folder

Other Administrative Support:
  • Abi has transcribed many of the diet blog post audios, I have reviewed and proofread all of them and moved into the High Priority >>> Diet Blog Posts folder
  • After some long time, have a detailed Skype session with Jomvie and discussed the following tasks with him:
    • About the Hubstaff problem, he is facing these days, I have asked him to generate a support ticket for his issues, also note down the process with screenshots for a case study blog post.
    • Told him about all his recent posts and pages that I uploaded to Ideal-Helper
    • Briefly discussed and explained Dropbox slideshow creation task and instructed him how to create more slideshows step-by-step.
    • Explained to him how he can use Ideal-Helper offline backup
    • Also discussed other open tasks with him
  • I have listened to the audio file where you have explained C2 guide task, I have listened to it twice and it has a great deal of information to be implemented on both sites. I haven't deleted this audio, because I will implement the process step by step.
  • Distributed more pages via RSS feed.

Work Update - PowerPoint Video Slideshow Creation

Work Period: Sep 18 & 19, 2014
Hours Worked: 10:10 @$2.22/hour
Money Paid to Me (Virtual Assistant): $20.33*
(*Exclusive of $2.24 charged by oDesk)
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Dropbox Slideshow Video Creation:
  • Cropped out the audio parts for the first slideshow from the 01 -  - Dropbox script-1. mp3
  • Since the quality of Jomvie's slides was not too optimal, and the size of all images was also very low, so I created a new PowerPoint presentation for the first point. Please have a review of  Dropbox\FAISAL SBI Project\Instructions\high priority\From Jomvies Folder dropbox slides\Dropbox_slideshow.pps
  • Please review and let me know if you are happy with the slideshow quality, I will then create instructions for Jomvie so that he works on the rest of the presentation slides.

Content 2.0 Blog post submission:

Mailout Manager Experiment:
  • I have created a test auto-responder a few days ago and created two installments for it. Then signed up to this list as an experiment. I regularly received two emails on the following two days as installments.
  • After more than 10 days, I added another two installments under the same list, and I received both emails respectively. I received 3rd installment on the next day I created new installments and received 4th installment after 24 hours of 3rd installment.

AWeber to SBI! Mailout Manager Transfer:
  • Twice watched the video about switching from AWeber to SBI! Mailout manager.
  • Imported complete party games website AWeber subscriber list to MS Excel, please review Dropbox\FAISAL SBI Project\Instructions\high priority\Aweber To MOM\DUYP_Subscriber_List.csv
  • Note: Although I have watched the video twice, but I am still confused about how to proceed with this task step-by-step.

Other Administrative Support:
  • Illustrated following bloglets:

  • Read the SBI! forum post about Breadcrumb building tool and tested it. I think that the tool is very useful and we can use it for building Breadcrumb navigation.
  • Rechecked broken code from Eric Interview page, I am not sure what is wrong with the code because I have triple checked the HTML code and found nothing wrong with it. The same code works fine outside the reusable box. Please see Virtual assistant communication page where I have rebuilt all callout boxes with same HTML code and they work fine. So I think that the only possibility to fix all broken pages is to rebuild all pages again (Actually, not from scratch, I have rebuilt callout boxes again and save them as reusable boxes. All I have to do is to go to each page and replace all existing chat boxes.)
  • Jomvie has asked me to listen to an audio file from his Dropbox where you have explained how he can still work on Ideal-helper offline and asked me to share PDF copies of all pages. Actually, it would take an immense amount of time in order to create PDF versions of all pages (Because IH has more than 500 pages). However, I have shared the latest backup of the Ideal-Helper with him, which is also accessible offline.
  • Distributed more party game website pages on RSS feed.

Jomvie's Daily Work Update - Video-Mail-Update

Work Period: Aug 19, 2014
Hours Worked: 7:10 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $17.92*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

  • Checked and updated tasks from video-mails. I wrote a post about how good video-mails compared to a long description of instructions through writing email. You might want to check it out
SBI video tutorial
  • I have now a slight idea on the site’s layouts, design, etc. But, when it comes to technical stuff, I can’t get my head on it. Though I am trying to understand--the least that I can do is to know the layouts and probably the technical stuff will follow. And I am more than willing to be trained. It’s just like enforcing ones weakness.

Hours Worked: 9:50 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $24.58*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

  • While I was reviewing the voicemails that I am supposed to remove from the prioritized folder, I was a bit surprise that there’s one video I missed..
  • This is the reason why that I should and always have to review video/voicemails before removing  them because some video/voicemails might not synced in right after it was sent

Jomvie's Daily Work Update - Voicemails review

Work Period: Sep 15, 2014
Hours Worked: 7:40 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $19.17*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

  • It is a lot better taking the voice mails the second time around because the information is more clearer and a lot better to understand (just my opinion).
  • Although I got some clear points at first, but I want to make sure I will not overlook on some important points. It’s just

Updating Posts
  • Just updating some posts. This happens anytime whenever I check my voice mails and some ideas popping out of my brain, i’ll go back to the recent post and type it in.

  • Although i’ve got a lot of links to comment on (which I am happy because I get a lot of options to choose from), there are still links with short posts that I am thinking twice if my comment is necessary.

What is a VA
  • This post talks about the true definition of a virtual assistant, how to be a service provider and other qualifications

Feedbacks from voicemail answered
  • This is not a post. This is a note where I wrote all the feedbacks from the voicemails Francis sent me

Jomvie's Daily Work Update - Administrative Task

Work Period: Sep 12, 2014
Hours Worked: 9:12 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $22.90*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Ideal-Helper Update
  • The essence of my daily task is grinding first my brain with these commenting task. Keep in mind that do not force your brain to do something that requires serious thinking ability. Start your day with simple tasks to get you going for the day. This way, it will help us online workers from exhaustion and burning out all our energy.

Blog Post Writing
  • VA’s from the Philippines treated like a shiny object
  • Filipino virtual assistant treated like a shiny object? I am not fond of too much attention, but I’ll just have a good laugh at this kind of impression from my friends.

Qualifications of a virtual employee
  • Are there any qualifications working as a virtual employee? Then you need to read my post to know how to be a virtual employee.

Technical Problems with Hubstaff
  • I logged earlier at 8 (7:54) in the morning and only to find out that Hubstaff is not running. They kept popping out this “Update” prompt and for once I “clicked” the update button. And instead of upgrading and updating the system--it crashed and left me speechless. There’s nothing that I can do about it so I switched to Rescuetime (for the meantime until I get Hubstaff working back again).
  • I logged on Rescuetime at 8:55
Comparison with Rescuetime and Hubstaff
  • In my opinion, I like Hubstaff better.. Probably because I felt comfortable working with Hubstaff for how many months now. Although it takes a screenshot of my work every 10 minutes, but I like the feature that takes my logged hours (picture below). Good thing is I still have this image in my recycle bin
  • Rescuetime doesn’t have this kind of feature. Only a prompt message that will keep on bugging you every 5 minutes of idle time. This is how it’s done with Rescuetime:
  • And since i’m not in premium, I don’t have their prime features.
  • Inaccurate Timing by Rescuetime
  • This is just to summarize my experience with Rescuetime where I am truly dismayed with the result of timing. I don’t know if it’s the system or it’s on my end that gives this kind of result
  • You will see on the status bar image that I started to log in at 8 am 8:55 a.m. to be exact. When I checked at around 3 o’clock in the afternoon, the total logged hours says it was only around 4+ hours and that’s when I started to feel dismayed and very tired :D I said, “Whaaat??” then I press the refresh button and it’s now on 5+ hours total.. And yet it’s still not justifiable.

Infographic Status
  • Almost all the infographics assigned are done and some are posted. I am currently not working with infographic since I am not assigned to work with one.
  • There’s only one infographic left on my inbox which is about SOTAM, I would like to know if you can give me an idea to picture out this last tile:
  • I just got back recently with Piktochart because their system is down and I can’t edit this last tile.
  • Just recently, you asked me to think on my next project for video making and I should make slides for the Outsourcing Video project but I haven’t started with it yet.

Methods of Communication/Instruction
  • The methods of instruction and communication is very well delivered. Only there are times that I might have overlooked on some points, but I learn to make it a habit to check on the recent audio and video mails sent to fill the gap.
  • All in all, the message is clear and if there’s one thing I will not understand or forgot to give you a feedback, just let me know.

Reviewed By Francis--folder
  • The contents of this folder are posts that has been reviewed by Francis. Files that has been placed here are good to go posts.

Pending Posts--folder
  • The content of the folder (Pending Posts) are posts that needs review/feedback

Note: I created these folders to avoid from confusion. This will create a systematic and organized filing of posts. Do let me know if this is okay or needs

Weekly Report
