Jomvie's Daily Work Upate - Piktochart

Work Period: Aug 29, 2014
Hours Worked: 9:00@$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $22.50*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

  • I am supposed to update a project: SOTAM infographic. Unfortunately, Piktochart is not functioning well. It has been a month since I last edited my infographic. I already wrote a report to Piktochart admin and as of the moment, I haven’t heard anything from them.
  • The last time they sent a reminder about “downtime” to which they will upgrade their site and that was August 15, 2014 but until now their site is still down.

Ideal-Helper Comment
  • I must say that taking comments in random is pretty easy now for me. The only hard part is partaking in a discussion where I don’t have a single idea. In other words, I am clueless.

Keyword Research

  • I did and tried searching for some keywords. I used Google’s suggestion since I am not really familiar with how the Adword tool works. Here’s a few list that I found

National Holiday post

  • This post is about our National Holidays also known as Regular Holidays. We have two popular types of holidays: Regular and Special Holidays. But this post is not yet final. There are still some stuff to discuss and my brain is a little crowded to where should I put these information.
Updating Posts
  • It’s not easy reviewing my own post :D but writing title on them is pretty easy.

Mobile Data
  • This is my mobile plan’s perks, with a 20-hour mobile data--it’s only good for surfing and it often lags
  • I can apply for postpaid or buy a load worth of the corresponding amount (prepaid).

Jomvie's Daily Work Update - Updating posts

Work Period: Aug 28, 2014
Hours Worked: 8:00 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $20.00*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Updating posts
  • Updating my posts is quite a knack in the brain. I think i’m experiencing this “information overload”. Information that can’t be contained that just keeps on flowing and gives you a hard time in keeping up.
Perks and benefits: Is it beneficial?
  • Okay, I had a draft….but I think I need to sleep it over to get more ideas about this topic. In other words, I need to do some brainstorming.
Ideal Helper Comments
  • It’s my daily dose of regular task--posted comments on live page :D
Follow-up on generator Image
  • While I was out earlier to run some errands, I had the chance to check out the generators again and asked some details and a quick snap shot
  • That small generator costs about: Php9,850.00 or $229 ($1=43pesos)
  • Capacity: 4 liters of gasoline (1liter=1hour), 800kb
  • 1 liter of gasoline is around Php50 or $1.2
  • The other generators costs from Php40,000 to Php100,000 ($930 to $2,326)

New Coffee Shop around downtown
  • This is another quick snapshot of the menu from a new coffee shop just around my area (15-20 minute ride). I asked around if they’re ready or there’s a backup solution ready if there’s a sudden brownout--they do. But, they can’t tell if the internet connection will function fully.
  • I haven’t tried it yet during power shortage and I am still trying to fix my laptop so I can bring it along here because internet cafe is not reliable also during power interruption because once it goes blackout, they’ll just wait for the power to go back on.
  • Other coffee shops just had this emergency light available, but probably they will upgrade their system.
Options during Power shortage post
  • I am still trying to collate some information regarding the options on where-to’s for this post. I already had the information on coffee shop and generator, I still need to get the mobile plans

Jomvie's Daily Work Update - Updating post for Options during power shortage

Work Period: Aug 27, 2014
Hours Worked: 8:10 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $20.42*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Updating post for Options during power shortage
  • I still have to know the cost of generator’s fuel expenses and I think I really have to talk someone in the hardware store to get some information. Will jot down the expenses once I get the necessary information.

VA’s breakdown of monthly expenses post
  • This post talks about an online provider versus regular employee’s benefits and expenses. So, if you’re to chose, which side you’re on? Working online or regular employee?
  • This could be used as an original photo for this post: bills.jpg

Ideal-Helper Comments
  • Writing comments today is pretty easy--probably my mind is refreshed. I just had my dinner :D oh, well, I just posted them on live page..

Mobile solutions
  • I have a postpaid mobile plan and a limited hours of surfing the internet that costs $12 monthly. But, it’s only good for surfing and not for file transferring. If you want to see some other plans, I’ll try to get a copy from my provider.

Jomvie's Daily Work Update - Research Task for Filipino VA Forums

Work Period: Aug 26, 2014
Hours Worked: 9:12 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $22.90*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Research Task
  • Today, is my second day of this research task that involves in FAQ by VAs in the Philippines and Filipino VA forums. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a single website yet that address this subject matter. Usually, sites that has FAQ are one sided that only caters the employers needs. But, on the other hand, the site is promoting its VAs to their prospect employers. And some sites talks is more like an article or blogpost.
  • This is a community of Filipinos but does not showcase virtual assistants in particular.
Content Presell eBook--the review
  • Since blogpost is different from an article. It does not mean that you can just write anything on it. Every person has its different style or way of writing, but if you are going to apply eBook’s points on how to make your content more exciting and interactive--there’s no doubt people would enjoy your posts.
Ideal-Helper Comment
  • Posted comment on live page--taking some random links as per Francis’s advice. And I do approve of it since taking it in a random comment will not likely make it like a copy-paste comment from the other link =)

Jomvie's Daily Work Update - Updating Task Status

Work Period: Aug 22, 2014
Hours Worked: 3:20 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $8.33*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

  • Updating and cleaning my “task status sheet”. This is a sheet where I jot down all the information extracted from audio-video mails and future tasks.
  • As you can see, it’s all cleared out :)

Ideal-Helper Comments
  • Wrote and posted comments on live page. Some pages are quite challenging or probably I am not just in to the topic :D

Research for Filipino VA forum
  • I am tasked to research for VA forums especially filipinos talking in a thread--unfortunately, there’s not much. But, I am not hopeless. It’s just my first day and will continue this research task together with Filipino VA’s FAQ.

Additional Note/s
  • Hubstaff is still not working fine--I've worked 8 hours a day starting last Monday until yesterday. But it didn’t show an accurate report of hours spent for the past consecutive days

Notification from comments
  • I noticed that whenever I post a blog, I will get notified only after it has been posted even if I asked for some notification before I had it submitted--if there are comments on the post.
  • Although it doesn’t apply to all blogs I posted, but some of it. that’s why I will never notice some comments.
  • Posted my thoughts regarding my preferred timing
  • Posted a reply to Francis’ comment on night owl post

Jomvie's Daily Work Update - Blog post on Philippines Season

Work Period: Aug 21, 2014
Hours Worked: 7:40 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $19.17*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Blog post on Philippines Season
  • This blog post talks about our season in the Philippines and in relation to my other posts that affects an ordinary citizen’s daily lives all throughout the circumstances.
Reviewed Audio/Video Mails
  • Getting some quick review with my audio-video mails before dropping it off to reviewed folder.  This will create a neat inbox not too over crowded with files and at the same time will remind me of the points I overlooked.
Audacity--Podcast Tutorial on how to edit an audio
  • This is in continuation to my unfinished tutorial yesterday. Although I had quite an idea on how-to’s, I am still not confident. So, I will just copy the audio that I am tasked to edit and will apply the things what I have learned from the written and video instructions.
SBI Tutorial Videos
  • This is yet another technical stuff that I am learning. Just like I said, it’s pretty easy to understand the layouts and designs since my brain can function really well on that part.
  • And some of the topics are often encountered when you want to subscribe from a particular website or some online freebies--but I am not learning on how to fill it up rather I am watching these videos training myself  on how they are set up with the use of SBI website builder.
  • Sounds cool -- I feel like I am having a crash course, just mere watching these videos and I am up for the challenge although there are times that I don’t understand what was the topic all about, but I know I will be able to use this in the near future.

C2 Title and Description
  • I opened my task title and description for DUYP, but for a minute or two or maximum, my brain got stuck. So, I closed it and opened a not so new task which is the SBI Tutorial videos. And my brain started to function for quite some time :D it’s like sort of breaking away from a serious task.
  • The only problem I have with this task (just little and not so serious)  is that they all sound pretty same to me. And the next title that I am going to write will sound just like the previous title and description and then that’s when I’ll get stuck--in short, writer’s block @_@
Additional Note/s
  • There’s something wrong with Hubstaff time tracker--this is why I kept checking it if it’s running or not. I don’t know if it’s internet related of the software itself.
  • I really don’t understand what’s wrong with Hubstaff this week. And just today I noticed that my weekly report didn’t show an accurate hours. Last Monday until today I’ve worked for 8 hours a day and this showed up when I checked it before logging out:
  • The time tracker shows that I’ve worked for 8 hours today but the weekly report chart shows I’ve worked for approx. 7 hours today. I started at 7am. Actually, I worked for 8 hours no more no less for 4 consecutive days now.

Ideal-Helper Comments
  • Just reading some experiences from other people is often times educational also. It will enlighten you some of the do’s and don’ts in working online especially I am new in this kind of stuff--working as a virtual assistant.

Cloud seeding post
  • This post talks more about how we’ve abused mother earth. It’s not just how I am affected especially with my job. But, the people are now suffering from their own mistake (including me). Mother earth is returning the favor and it’s much more worst

Vacation Research (Pasay/Makati)
  • Updating vacation research--it’s not yet finish since there’s still nearby attractions to cover. Although I almost covered the city’s main attractions, it will probably be enough for one day or two in roaming around the city.

Hours Worked: 8:25 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $21.04*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

  • In preparation for Dropbox animation video, I wrote some points for Francis’ voice over script. This is the very first video creation I am working with and it’s quite amusing. I have an experience with visual animation but i think these two are different in a way that this one involves voice and motion.

Work Period: Aug 15, 2014
Hours Worked: 3:00 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $7.50*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

  • This post talks about the way how a virtual assistant deal with our life when an inevitable  events occur. Often times it’s irritating because I have to catch up with my missing hours and the longer of hours I am working that could possibly mean draining out your energy of working.
  • Please review Power Interruption.docx in the Dropbox.

Additional Note/s
  • I took a break from Friday because I am not feeling well--again. I can hardly stay focus on what I am doing. It’s like the clues are just right in front of me but I don’t understand a single thing about them. And the good thing is that Francis allowed me to take a day off earlier than my rest day. Yes, will need more catching up~~

  • Turned list-building tracking sheet into a free-giveaway, added it into the eBook.

  • Uploaded this tracking sheet to SBI! File manager and created Twitter and Facebook payment buttons for it.

    • Created a tracker link for Viral-inbox and updated in the eBook
    • Converted oDesk job description into Word format, uploaded it to File manager and linked it within the eBook
    • Updated copyright note
    • Re-worked eBook cover-page and removed the CreativeCommons logo

Additional Note: Twitter and Facebook payment buttons are still to-do, because I need the to-be-created sales page URL.
Content 2.0 Administration Support:

  • Abi has transcribed your outsourcing experiment post, so I have reviewed and submitted that. Since it was good to go, therefore I have also published it. Please review "An Experiment: The Boss Turns into the Virtual Assistant for an Hour"

Jomvie's Daily Work Update - Video Review

Work Period: Aug 13, 2014
Hours Worked: 8:10 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $20.33*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Better Communication blog post

  • This blog post is in response to Francis’s question on which way of communication is best between employer and virtual assistant. Since communication is the only mode of streaming instructions from online and it’s the most important thing in online businesses--communication should be clear from one end to the other.

Revised Infographic

  • Revised and added the necessary data on SOTAM infographic--unfortunately, when I checked the video mails there’s supposed to be an additional statistic under the stat tile.

Reviewed Video Mails

  • Reviewed video mails and yes I overlooked some important points--this is the reason why I do some routine check and listen to video mails again.

SOTAM Nutshell part 2
  • Linked credit generation to SOTAM nutshell part 2

Additional Note:

  • Revised header layout, waiting for approval, please see revised infographic

Jomvie's Daily Work Update - Credit Generation eBook Report

Work Period: Aug 12, 2014
Hours Worked: 8:30 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $21.25*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Credit Generation eBook Report
  • And now that i’ve finished extracting and patching up all the necessary files--will just wait for a new feedback and update for the ebook report credit generation.
Francis’ transcribed task blog post
  • This audio recording is a task from Francis where he asked me to let him know and picture out the storms in the Philippines. He was the one who transcribe the file since he wants to experience transcribing an audio recording from one person’s post.
  • This is an image where Francis was setting up all the necessary technicalities in preparation of transcribing

Ideal-Helper Comments
  • Oh, I missed writing comments yesterday..Since i’ve been busy extracting files to credit generation ebook report.

Thank you form
  • I’ve no idea what I am writing :D but I just continued what I am suppose to do. This is a task about a “thank you” page that opt out once you registered from a particular website.

Additional Note/s
  • Social Media--Facebook/Twitter: I know how to post and add some hashtags but when you say ’technicalities’ I wonder is there something more from comments and status? In short, i’ve no idea :D
  • Final timing: I am up to work in the morning--I often start at 9am and often times I end up drained not from working but due to the humid temperature inside the room and this is the reason why I started to work at night every after dinner. But I will take some necessary steps to implement this and hopefully will no longer work on late nights.
  • Ginger feedback: Ginger is doing good in fine tuning my sentences. But there are times that it corrects grammatical errors wrong. Though it’s not a major problem, I just have to be careful sometimes in approving its options. All in all, Ginger is helpful.
