Jomvie's Daily Work Update - Proofreading and Posting Comments

Overview
Work Period: May 30, 2014
Hours Worked: 7:42 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $18.90*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Customary Inbox Check (20 minutes)
  • Prior in getting your hands on your task, be sure to have a customary checkup for further instructions or feedbacks from your previous task. Probably, there must be changes or additional such as what-to-do or what-not

Proofreading (approx 5 hours)
  • Proofreading short contents are great--in a way; as long as it does not eat most of your working hours.
  • And the variations of the topic sure kills boredom from the fact that you are learning something new or you share the same feelings, like “Oh, I had the same experience too when I was trying out for a job” lol.
  • Please have a review on:
  • File name: Proofreading_Done
  • Task\Proofreading_Done

Comments for Ideal-Helper Sites (1 hour)
  • Created titles and comments for  Ideal-Helper pages
  • It’s nice to know some stuff about employers outsourcing their work and what they think about their virtual assistant
  • It’s rare to read contents that employers commend their own virtual assistant’s good works, skills and abilities.
  • File name: Ideal-Helper C2 Sitemap

Comments for Party Games Website (approx 2 hours)
  • Created titles and comments for party games website
  • Well, again, this is a different kind of experience and another additional kind of experience. Okay, given the fact that I’m a guy, but writing ‘Truth or Dare’ stuffs from naughty to funny--is really exciting and surprising (is it really me writing this stuff--lol).
  • I’m thinking about taking some lessons for this stuff ;D
  • File name: DUYP - C2 Sitemap
Note:
  • I would like to ask about these two sites. Since I’ve made a comment and posted them yesterday on their respective pages, do I have to add another comment for these?

Additional Notes:
  • For Francis' main virtual assistant: I am a bit hesitant on posting the comments--will wait for further instructions or feedback regarding my query.

Jomvie's Daily Work Update - Administrative Task

Overview
Work Period: May 29, 2014
Hours Worked: 8:00 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $20.00*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Customary Inbox Check Up (40 minutes)
  • Checking up Dropbox for further feedback/instructions/revisions prior to starting with the main task

The No Bullshit Guide (2 hours and 20 minutes)
  • Read the eBook “The No Bullshit Guide”
  • Creating feedbacks and reactions related to “The No Bullshit Guide” while playing the role of an entrepreneur
  • File name: The No Bullshit Guide-feedback

Proofreading (2 hours and 50 minutes)
  • Proofread Eric and Francis transcribed interview
  • Proofreading sure takes a lot of time as you have to inspect the elements and the collaboration of the story with each other
  • It’s a long and tedious task but it’s a task, easy or not--it should be done.

Posted Comments (20 minutes)
  • Posted comments on party games website and Outsourcing pages.
  • File name: C2-comments
  • File path: Jomvie_Projects/To be reviewed/To be implemented by Jomvie
  • Posting comments are the most easiest and fun part during regular working hours--it is just like taking the social media for a diversion and having some time off.

HTML Borders and Shadows (50 minutes)
  • Created two variants of texts for HTML Borders and Shadows Style
  • Please review texts for HTML linking to mother page,
  • File name: HTML Borders to mother page
  • Francis’ video feedback on HTML Borders and Shadows Styles

Additional Notes
  • Note to Francis:
    • Proofreading sure takes a lot of time and energy but there is no reason for me to complain. this is a task that I should do and I am confident I can do them. I am positive that the speed issue can be corrected in the near future.
    • I also think it would be a good plan to incorporate training materials and tools that I would possibly be using in the near future so I can familiarize with them as early as possible. I can do the trainings in between time-consuming tasks; which will be sort of a break for me and give my mind a bit of time to relax.
    • All these said, I want you guys to know that I am a goal/task-oriented person and I would want to  complete as many tasks as possible on a daily basis. :)

Jomvie's Daily Work Update - Administrative Support

Overview
Work Period: May 28, 2014
Hours Worked: 7:53 @$2.50/hour

Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

  • Creating titles and description for party games website is a different kind of level of experience as I am starting to get comfortable with a niche that’s conversational/informal in approach.
  • It’s nice to wander out of your box and have some fun

Frustrations with Outsourcing--merged (1 hour and 30 minutes)
  • Francis’ transcribed feedback from Tyrone’s video and the article entitled “Frustrations with Outsourcing” -- merged in one content
  • The easiest part of a task--the “copy-paste”
Interview with Stefan (approx. 4 hours)
  • Continuation on yesterday’s task--proofread and modified Interview with Stefan
  • ongoing task--there’s no title/sub-headers that has been started yet.
Note: These files have two versions: 1st review and 2nd revisions

Note:
  • Files that have been removed from “high priority” folder are completed files w/c has been moved to a new folder “to be reviewed”—pardon for the confusion
  •  And the remaining files in the “high priority” folder are files that is either: Ongoing task or newly added task
  • To Francis: In regards to the tasks, I always find short to medium sized tasks fun whatever the topic may be. I really would like to get a hand on all of them to sharpen my writing skills as well as my knowledge about these topics.
  •  Maybe alternating between learning something new, practice/ repetition (previously done tasks), and cognitive vs. technical tasks would add flavor to the daily routine :)
  • So, I would say just send the tasks by priority and I’ll work on all of them. :)

Jomvie's Daily Work Update - Proofreading Interview with Stefan & Aweber Follow-Up Series

Overview
Work Period: May 27, 2014
Hours Worked: 8:00 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $20.00*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Interview with Stefan (approx. 4:30 - 5 hours)
  • Proofreading can be tedious and strenuous activity at times for the brain.
  • Finished half of the total page and spent more than half of my working hours for the task.
  • I started with proofreading first. Then, after proofreading and modifying, will work with the titles back again--to avoid joggling of ideas and a knack in my brain.
Francis and Eric Transcribed Interview (approx. 3 hours)
  • I’ve touched a few paragraphs but it’s still a long way to go.
  • Tweaked and modified transcribed interview.
  • comment: Proofreading takes a lot of time out of me. I just hope it is ok to allot more time for this.
Aweber Follow-Up Series (50 minutes)
  • Proofread and modified Follow-Up Emails.
  • Conversational  and short emails are quite easy to handle. I think I can do this the whole shift--it’s fun.
  • Note: On the feedback video, I am asked on what can I suggest on the (Name) holder.
  • I would like to suggest “Buddy” (it sounds friendly) if the follow-up email will be sent in random. And, if sent to a specific person, it’s still best to write the first name of the person.
Ongoing Task on Dropbox
  • “Interview with Stefan”
  • Francis and Eric transcribed interview/discussion
Additional Note/s:
  • Refer to the Main VA: For site/page that needs review/comments
    • For idea of creating a “Survey Page/Site”
    • For series of links of pages w/comments to be proofread/review
  • Reminder for Francis: Information on “How to Create Infographic on Powerpoint”
    tools provided by Main VA

  • Feedback: I have no problem regarding the tasks that are given to me. it is just that some of the tasks(e.g. proofreading) are very long and may take much of my time.
  • I have very little experience regarding social media although any task related to that would be a welcome experience for me.

Jomvie's Daily Work Update - Modifying Meta Title and Description

Overview
Work Period: May 26, 2014
Hours Worked: 8:15 @$2.50/hour
Money Paid to Jomvie: $20.50*
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

Tasks: Administrative Tasks, Content Creation (Outsourcing), Modifying Meta Title and Description

HTML Borders and Shadows (30 minutes)
  • Creating titles to fit in a box is quite challenging--it’s like compressing an enormous idea into a tiny informative and powerful craft.
Title and Meta-description for party games website (1 hour)
  • Modified and tweaked title and description for merged drinking stories.
  • Created an additional (2) variations of title and description for party games website
Video Content Creation (3 hours and 30 minutes + 30 mins.= 4 hours)
  • Created content from a video - “What are the frustrations and problems people face with outsourcing?”
  • Content creation sounds pretty easy-- only it’s hard to craft your first sentence particularly when you have no title to start with.
  • Content creation is easier if the title is laid out ; then you can easily craft your ideas down to the last word.
  • Additional 30 minutes for skimming/proofreading on content creation to test for readability.
Meta title/description for Dropbox expansion (30-40 minutes)
  • Revised and modified Meta title and description on “dropbox space expansion”.
  • Creating title and description can joggle your brain in many ways.
Transcribing feedback and further instructions from Francis (40-50 minutes)
  • “Revised Files” (folder) is created for complete task by me from Friday’s daily task (Jomvie).
  • On video feedback (38:33), it’s a task from proofreading “What is Outsourcing”
Ongoing Task/s
  • Ongoing proofreading on “Interview with Stefan” transcription.
  • Ongoing proofreading on Francis/Eric transcribed discussion.
Additional notes:
  • Waiting for further instructions on “Aweber” content creation.
  • In regards to preference of tasks and topics, it doesn’t matter to me as I find all the topics interesting.
  • The communication process is actually fine with me. Audio and written instructions are excellent ways to guide me in the performance of my tasks.
  • To avoid confusion and to save time, I’ll create a folder in Dropbox named “ For Review” where I’ll place all my completed tasks and daily updates.

Work Update - Linkbuiliding Support

Overview
Work Period: May 20 & 21, 2014
Hours Worked: 10:10 @$2.22/hour
Money Paid to Me (Virtual Assistant): $20.33*
(*Exclusive of $2.24 charged by oDesk)
Overall Difficulty of Tasks: Medium

  • In the link building spreadsheet, you have asked to check and inform you if the owner of the blog replied to you comment. Please see this comment where the owner has replied, but I don't think that his comment needs any further reply.
  • Researched more blog posts to comment on the Chris Ducker's blog and saved within Link Building Spreadsheet.

Other Administrative Support:
  • Submitted a transcribed bloglet, illustrated it with an image and other text formatting. Also archived it for future use.
  • About another video where you asked my opinion about mostly visited pages (when you showed me two pages HTML Photo Slideshow Code & Mechanical Turk outside US) and asked me that should we build more similar 'How to pages'. In my opinion that how to pages are always very popular and if our pages are really providing the solution, they will always rank higher in the search engines.

However, while building such pages we should determine the most wanted response beforehand. I think most of the visitors on these two mentioned pages are virtual assistants (my assumption is totally Based on Facebook and contact us comments) who are looking for work, not employers who are looking to hire someone or looking for some outsourcing insights. So in that case, if our most wanted response is set to get them signed up for oDesk let suppose, would not work out well. However, a good alternated for these pages can be Adsense. I think that we should keep building such pages, but we should focus more on employers related 'How to' pages.
  • Created an account with Sitepoint forums, read their terms, conditions and forum rules. Also saved login details to All_logins.xlsx.
  •  Researched and expanded the Facebook comments block width for all Ideal-helper pages.
